    Record label MAMKA (from the slovene for granny) has dedicated itself to the publication of high quality self-produced sound recordings in small hand-made series.

    Each individual record is its own uniquely woven and hand-printed specimen. Moments from the #neon-western #audio-diverse #soundcomic WENDY PFERD TOD MEXIKO (WENDY HORSE DEATH MEXICO), a production by the author Natascha Gangl and the electro-acoustic duo Rdeča Raketa (Osojnik & Schellander), are newly collaged and remixed on this single, resulting in two filmic miniatures that create new interpretations and listening experiences, and stand alone as works of art in their own right. The sound comic WENDY PFERD TOD MEXIKO was first presented at Ö1 - Kunst Radio and awarded the first prize of the Berlin Radio Play Festival in 2018. wendy.klingt.org

    The electroacoustic duo, RDEČA RAKETA, aka composers Maja Osojnik and Matija Schellander, together with the author Natascha Gangl, develop and perform acoustic works of art for which they invented the genre "sound comic" (ger. Klangcomic). As with comics, where words and images merge into one another, here it is the spoken word and sound which blend together. Anti-heroes and heroines are the protagonists here; their surreal to psychedelic journeys leading them through a dense fabric spun from compact sonic images. The artists eclectically combine literary and musical styles and make them their own in the finely woven compositions. The “sound comic” presents itself as a ready-to-broadcast radio play, as a sound carrier of unique design, and as an ever-evolving live performance.

A-Side: SUPERANDOME (4:08)

Superar means: to overcome, overtax and go beyond. Superandome means: to grow beyond oneself and thereby transcend that known self. How does that sound? And how does it sound as a Mexican experience? The electronics gurgle and spark, the world they create musically rattles. The language goes forward and backward at the same time and thereby rids itself of rational statements. A new feeling is created and makes room for Mexico as an assembly of curanderas and brujos, of old and new gods and goddesses, of overlapping history and stories. The sound presses and swells, a sound-thundercloud becomes an invocation, an ultimate "llamada" where even the machines begin to breathe.
